So comfortable!

Having got back from the week in Scapa at the weekend I can say that I am very happy with the Evolve. I was able to get trim sorted before I went and ended up using a set of fabers while I was there. The wing was comfortable to the point of almost forgetting it most of the time, just as I find the Pioneer is with a single setup.

An absolute riot!

In a concerted attempt to run before I can walk - I’ve just bought one of the new Gavin Mini G’s from Rich Walker and I met up with him at Stoney yesterday to take delivery of it and go for a dive and some basic informal training.

Initial impressions are that it’s an absolute riot. I found it very maneuverable and easy to use, and whilst I’ve never used a short body or any other Gavin for that matter - I’d be surprised if they weren’t much harder work for a novice. Clearly there’s a lot to learn and a long way to go, but I found it manageable first time out and with no previous scooter experience.

The reduced size means the Mini G fits inside a 1660 Pelican case which is absolutely perfect for transporting the unit and keeping it safe. For the small extra cost you’d be crazy to buy one without I would suggest. There’s enough spare space in the foam lining to cut out holes for HID’s etc - so I’ll use the case to transport all my more sensitive bits of gear.

A really great day - thanks to Rich.

Rich said it’s for free - wow

At the end Rich asked - ‘what did you think of the day’. I found it difficult to summarise - I was a bit like 1to1 instruction (although know there were 2 of us) with good learning points & chance to discuss in a non-threatening way all things DIR. I did say that we should pay for this sort of advice/tuition, but Rich said its for free - WOW.
So if anyone is thinking of doing DIR - or just wants to try out DIR gear then RichW is your man - thanks very much for your time.

After Rich had finished with me…

Rich showed us how to set up our kit correctly then off we went for a couple of dives, showing us S-Drills & V-Drills also different fin kicks.
After Rich had finished with me I could reach my valves and almost have perfect trim.
